Housekeeping Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

To supervise and coordinate housekeeping and cleaning activities at Naramata Centre ensuring cleanliness and guest readiness of accommodations and facilities in accordance with Naramata Centre's standards.
This role reports to the General Manager. The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees seasonal housekeeping staff but does not have direct supervisory responsibilities over other departments.

Term: April 7 - October 25 | 40 hours

Primary Duties

  • Scheduling and Supervision:  Build staff schedules and assign housekeeping tasks.  Clearly communicate standards and expectations and monitor team member performance.  

  • Housekeeping & Cleaning:  Oversee cleaning of all indoor accommodation and facilities, including public washrooms areas.  Perform housekeeping tasks as necessary including:  dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, sanitizing bathrooms, cleaning appliances, washing dishes, cleaning kitchen cupboards and countertops, wiping down walls, sweeping front and outside entry areas and washing windows. Ensure accommodations are "guest ready" by setting out towels, sheets, and blankets and stocking bathroom supplies.  Dispose of refuse and recyclables in designated areas.

  • Laundry:  Oversee and support laundry tasks including washing linens, blankets, towels, etc.

  • Training:  Provide orientation and training for new team members.  Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and community gatherings.

  • Quality Control:  Establish processes to ensure housekeeping activities meet established standards including safety.  Provide regular quality control reports to the General Manager.  Report concerns related to maintenance and repairs.

  • Inventory & Supplies:  Assist with ordering and inventorying cleaning and other supplies.

  • Standards & Procedures:  With the support of the General Manager, develop housekeeping and safety related procedures, standards and job aids, i.e. checklists.

  • Guest Service:  Address customer complaints in a timely fashion.  Share guest feedback with team members.  Take initiative to identify and implement improvements that will enhance the guest experience.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly communicate with team members and the operations team.

  • Proven ability to work independently and without supervision.

Education or Experience Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping experience, including housekeeping supervision, is required.

  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment operation.

  • WHMIS certification or training.

  • Valid First Aid Training (preferred)

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector search.

  • Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • Ability to work an irregular work schedule including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
