Key Responsibilities

To support the daily operations of the kitchen including food preparation, serving and cleaning in delivering a welcoming and safe environment for campers and staff at Naramata Centre.

This role operates under the supervision of the General Manager.  There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

Full Time: June 27 - August 29 | 40 hours

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare guest and staff meals in accordance with approved menus and food service standards.

  2. Execute food preparation and service activities to meet daily meal schedule requirements.

  3. Help with serving meals and maintaining a welcoming dining environment.

  4. Clean dishes, work stations, cooking equipment, and food storage areas according to food safety regulations.

  5. Properly maintain and handle food service equipment.

  6. Store ingredients and handle food and ingredients according to prescribed food safety guidelines.

  7. Monitor inventory levels and prepare food orders.

  8. Report any concerns or equipment failures to the General Manager.

  9. Assist with various operational tasks across departments including housekeeping, grounds maintenance, front office support, and event planning.

  10. Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and community gatherings.

Skills:

  • Basic cooking and food preparation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow food safety standards.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Positive attitude and willingness to assist with various tasks.

  • Comfortable engaging with guests.

  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Education or Experience Requirements:

  • BC Foodsafe Level 1 certification. 

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector search.

  • Physically able to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • Willingness to work on-site with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
